Ultra High Pressure SPIR STAR® hoses and accessories- general information
SPIR STAR® hoses are designed for ultra high pressures (UHP) reaching to 4000 bar. The internal layer of SPIR STAR® hoses is made of the highest quality thermoplastic materials such as polyoxymethylene (POM), polyamide (PA), polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF), polytetrafluoroethylene – teflon (PTFE). There are up to 8 layers of high-tensile spring wire made of carbon or stainless steel (also acid resistant steel) spirally wrapped around the internal core. The external layer is made of polyurethane, different kinds of polyamide or of PVDF depending on application.
Many applications of SPIR STAR® hoses include WATERBLAST technology (cutting, crushing and water jet cleaning), high pressure hydraulics, e.g. bolt tensioning, special industrial applications, e.g. chemical injection. SPIR STAR® hoses are offered as ready-to-use, complete hose assemblies (hoses with end fittings), assembled and tested in accordance with SPIR STAR® technology always by authorised personnel.

Other applications of high-pressure technology (fun facts)
cutting dough – using water up to 1200 bar,
as an alternative to thermal food sterilisation by exposing food to brief pressure action, from 100 to 1000 MPa (it is usually for a few minutes); it can be sterilised without the adverse effects of heat on the product, without chemicals or radiation,
arthroscopic surgery instruments. Tissue is not removed with a knife or a laser, but with a jet of water at very high pressure. The procedure is safe because the water jet is fully controlled. The apparatus is used to treat certain joint problems, mainly of the knee. It is used to remove damaged knee cartilage, etc. The tip of an arthroscopic instrument is designed to make the water jet act like a scalpel and remove only unwanted tissue, both soft and bone.
