Instrumentation threaded connectors – general information
Threaded connectors (adapters) designed for connecting instrumentation elements, with connections sealed on NPT pipe taper thread. NPT thread to BSP, BSPT and UN thread adapters. Straight connectors, reducers, muffs, nipples, elbows, tees, crosses, pipe unions, dust caps, plugs and hose fittings.
Made of AISI 316 stainless steel (optional brass) with a superior surface finish. NPT threads compliant with ASME / ANSI B1.20.1. Sizes from 1/16” to 2”. Instrumentation threaded connectors are developed for and used in a vast array of demanding applications in the chemical and petrochemical industry systems, oil & gas, power industry.
Assembly of NPT and BSPT thread connections
Use thread sealant for leak-tight assembly of NPT or BSPT taper thread connectors. PTFE tape, PTFE cord or liquid pipe thread sealant such as anaerobic adhesive can be applied on the threads. Use only high-quality PTFE tape to seal threaded connections in instrumentation systems.
- male and female thread must be clean
- apply the tape on the male thread wrapping it in the direction of the male thread helix
- two wraps of PTFE tape on stainless steel elements is enough
- tape should never overhang beyond the first coil on the thread – not to get into the flow passage in the connector
